It is a bicycle messenger bag with a ring of vibrating motors sewn into its strap, whose positions correspond to compass points. This soft circuit project uses a Lilypad in conjunction with the gps feature in an Iphone, allowing the user to set a destination and be given constant haptic feedback through the fabric in order to stay on course and in the right direction. This acts as an exploratory wayfinding tool – a fun and useful alternative to a standard turn-by-turn map. www.joshbillions.org makerfaire.com

Posted on Arthustler.com Six months ago I got my hands on a Timbuk2 The Snoop Camera Messenger Bag (0). Is this the best bag ever? YES! It really is the best bag ever! But you’ll want to watch me review it to find out why. I will mention that it’s main features are the laptop compartment, velcro silencers, water-resistant flaps, and that it’s also a camera bag (via removable pounch with adjustable padding) that looks nothing like the dedicated camera bags thieves are familiar with. If James Bond met Vignelli while being hit by a hypster bike messenger running from hollywood paparazzi, this bag would be it’s baby. Watch the video for the full review. BONUS: Listed below are the tools I often carry with me to meetings, city bike rides, or when I need to get to my remote studio location (aka Starbucks). It all fits in this lightweight, stylish Timbuk2 bag: (View blog post for actual list: arthustler.squarespace.com

Eighth annual RELoad Bags April Fools Alley Cat. This was a super laid back ride due to the change of attitude of many people since the tragic death of a rider in a Chicago Alleycat earlier this year. The ride included many tests of skill, strength, artistic merit, mental prowess and sheer stupidity. The people who put on this event deserve the highest accolades. It fuckin’ rocked! It looked like there were about 300 people. Chaos reigned, but it was a fun kind of Ragnarok! After registration at RELoad HQ, the ride started at the Art Museum. There were reclining nudes at the start and the finish! Fortunately, Segways only at the start. The prizes were awarded at South Street’s Tattooed Mom. The slightly mellowed and somewhat tipsy mob packed the second floor of the bar to the point where I was worried the floor would give out. I was unable to really see what was going on so there’s not much of that here. Those under 21 and/or claustrophobic hung out on the sidewalk enjoying the ideal weather providing entertainment to(and being entertained by) passers by. Next year I’d like to bring a couple of mobile bike racks and take over some parking spots! Where there’s 300 of us on South street we should be taking space from cars, not peds, which is what happens when the bikes are on the sidewalk. The ride included checkpoints from Kensington to South Philly and out to 50th Street. Our crew decided that West Philly checkpoints on this ride are usually April fools, so we didn’t go …
